Well, we suddenly find ourselves back to square one in our French city search. We had it all figured out, down to which neighborhoods we liked. Then, we watched an eye opening video showing the gritty day-to-day public transportation of Lyon. We saw shoulder to shoulder crowds, big city atmosphere, and we realized that dogs are not allowed to ride. Lyon doesn’t seem like a very walkable city due to its size. For some, it would be the perfect city. For a big family with a big dog, I don’t see how it would be possible. So, back to the drawing board. We are moving next year and have no idea which city we’re moving to.
So, I excitedly jump back in to the research. Where to start? We want moderate weather. I have had enough freezing wind in my face to last a lifetime. Snow, I could live without it. After all, the snowy mountains aren’t too far from anywhere we might pick. I would love to be kind of close to the sea or ocean but it’s not necessary. The French Riviera is out because we don’t have that kind of money. Same reason we never even considered Paris. Right now, our favorite options are Bordeaux, Toulouse and Montpellier. I’m sure we’ll add more options down the line. We’ll use research and opinions from our online community of Americans who are already in France. We’ll find our city.
